Velocitek is a Hawaii-based outdoor electronics company supplying GPS speedometers and compasses to racing sailors — a well-known name in the sailing industry for over a decade. With its first stand-up paddleboard product released in spring 2015, the brand set out to reach a new audience.
Velocitek approached 3five — I led creative direction, strategy and the account — for a full website redesign built on Shopify, selling products and accessories directly from the site.

The old site made buying hard. A bloated navigation offered too many options, products hid behind unique names (what’s a “Speedpuck” until you click?), calls to action were unclear, and important information sat buried within pages. The redesign had to grow brand awareness, traffic and engagement, appeal to a broader demographic and protect Velocitek’s strong SEO position — while making it dramatically easier to purchase.
We rebuilt the experience around stunning, full-width imagery of professionals racing with Velocitek products — visuals that incite emotion from the first click — and a ruthlessly simplified path to purchase.
A Shop Now call to action greets every visitor, with Add to Cart buttons placed where they get the most attention.
Live chat, customer product reviews, and an Instagram feed of satisfied customers on the homepage.
Landing-page templates and three interchangeable product templates — campaign pages without a developer.
Interactive GIFs and video throughout give users a real feel for how each product works.
The new site excites from the first scroll, makes products effortless to find and buy, and delivers bite-size information along the entire conversion path. It met and exceeded Velocitek’s goals for the redesign — a stunning website that captures what it feels like to race with their gear.
